HEALTH & PE

The purpose of this PE is to promote lifetime fitness, and our activities are designed with variety in mind. It is an activity-based class that requires participation, knowledge and skill attainment, and effort to complete successfully. This class is a requirement to graduate in the state of Kentucky. The purpose of health is to provide students with accurate and current information on health concepts and topics so that they are able to make good choices as they work toward healthy behavioral outcomes. Topics covered include alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs, nutrition, personal health and wellness, mental and emotional health, violence prevention, sexual health, safety, and promoting physical activity. 

*Required for Graduation (may be substituted with ASL)

ATHLETIC SPORTS LEADERSHIP (ASL)

This course gives students the opportunity to learn weight training concepts and techniques used for obtaining optimal physical fitness. Students will learn the basic fundamentals of weight training, strength training, aerobic training, and overall fitness training and conditioning. 

Grades 9-12

FITNESS & CONDITIONING

The purpose of this class is to promote lifetime fitness and interest through various exercises and activities that require an in-depth application of the components of fitness. Students will learn fundamentals of various types of exercises such as plyometrics, strength training, aerobics and more. It is an activity-based class and an elective that requires participation, knowledge and skill attainment, and effort to complete successfully. 

Prerequisite: Health & PE & Athletic Sports Leadership (ASL)
